ORCHESTRA

ORCHESTRA AT JAMES LAWSON HIGH SCHOOL

The orchestra classes are a place for string players to explore their craft in an ensemble setting.  Students that play violin, viola, cello and bass work hard daily to prepare music using the fundamentals of string playing and explore their inner musicality.  Performances are held throughout the school year, and community involvement is welcome.

STRING ENSEMBLE

String Ensemble is the upper level of orchestra at JLHS.  Students in this class have been playing for 3-6 years and play a variety of traditional string literature, along with modern arrangements for orchestra.

ORCHESTRA

The Orchestra class is for anyone who has played a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) in the past, but is still working on fundamentals.  Most students have played for 1-4 years.  Through the use of literature and method books students will develop their skills in order to play string literature along with modern arrangements for orchestra at their level.

COMING SOON

Next year we would like to offer a beginning orchestra class where students who have not had an opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello or bass in the past will have that opportunity.  Please encourage friends and family that are not in orchestra to sign up for the class next year!
